Tanis Aircraft Services signs agreement with Civil Air Patrol

MAXWELL AFB, Ala. — Tanis Aircraft Services has signed a corporate partnership agreement with the Civil Air Patrol. The leading supplier of aircraft preheat systems in the world, Tanis joins a growing list of corporations in support of Civil Air Patrol and its community service missions through CAP’s corporate partner program.

While terms of the agreement were undisclosed, Tanis will provide the Civil Air Patrol with financial and promotional support in 2004. In return, the company will receive the right to use the CAP name and corporate supporter mark in the company’s advertising, marketing and promotional programs during the year. Financial support from Tanis will be used to fund CAP cadet programs’ National Cadet Competition in 2005.

Minnesota-based Tanis (www.tanair.com) produces aircraft and helicopter engine preheat systems as well as other cold-weather safety products. The company markets directly to aircraft owners as well as through fixed base operators (FBO) and original equipment manufacturers (OEM).

Tanis engine preheat systems are currently used by CAP units throughout the U.S. “Most of our units that use Tanis preheat systems are in the colder climates of the north,” said Dan Daniel, CAP National Headquarters chief, aircraft management. “Preheating engines is critical in cold climates and Tanis heating systems have always been very reliable.”

“We’re very happy to have Tanis as our newest partner,” said Maj. Gen. Richard Bowling, CAP national commander. “Safety is of the utmost importance throughout CAP, not only in the performance of our missions but also in the daily activities of our members. And we put even greater emphasis on the safety of our cadets.”

CAP’s Cadet Program builds strong citizens for the future through leadership training, technical education, scholarships and career education. More than 27,000 young men and women, ages 12 to 21, are involved in the program. Throughout the year, cadets compete in precision drill, physical fitness and academic competition at local, state and regional levels. Winning teams advance each year to the National Cadet Competition, one of CAP’s most prestigious cadet events. In supporting CAP’s Cadet Program, Tanis has chosen to help fund the 2005 National Cadet Competition, which will be held in Washington, D.C.

“We want to thank Civil Air Patrol for the fantastic work they do. They are not only an important part of aviation but do important work for our country,” said Gary Schmidt, president of Tanis Aircraft Services. “Since CAP units use our products to better perform in cold weather, we felt it was a necessary part of our program to support CAP in this way.”

Civil Air Patrol is a nonprofit organization with some 62,000 members nationwide. It performs 95% of continental U.S. inland search and rescue missions as tasked by the Air Force Rescue Coordination Center and was credited last year by the AFRCC with saving more than 140 lives. CAP volunteers also perform homeland security, disaster relief and counterdrug missions at the request of federal, state and local agencies. Members take a leading role in aerospace education and serve as mentors to the almost 27,000 young people currently participating in CAP cadet programs. CAP has been performing missions for America for more than 60 years.
