Exceptional Achievement Awards
Named in honor of the Air Force major considered by CAP historians to be the first Public Affairs officer to serve CAP at the national level in the '50s, the Maj. Howell Balsem CAP Public Affairs Exceptional Achievement Awards competition provides PAOs with the opportunity for recognition of outstanding achievements in a variety of categories.
The following entries were selected from the many excellent submissions received for the first-ever competition. Winners were recognized at the awards luncheon Aug. 7 in Atlanta. The awards were presented by CAP National Vice Commander Brig. Gen. Amy Courter, with a keynote address delivered by Air Force Col. Michael J. "Mike" Caldwell, deputy director of Public Affairs, Secretary of the Air Force Office of Public Affairs.
